WINGS, the Women’s International Network for Guatemalan Solutions was founded in 1999 by Sue Patterson a former Peace Corp Volunteer and Foreign Service Officer.
WINGS’ motto is “A woman is something too precious to waste.” WINGS works with Guatemalan Mayans to provide knowledge, financial resources, and reproductive health services to help poor individuals plan their families.
In 2002 GRACE Cares raised funds for WINGS to provide health services to women and children who were victims of domestic violence. GRACE Cares officers T. Namaya and Zoe Kopp held a fundraiser in conjunction with the School for International Training in Brattleboro, VT. Together the two groups celebrated “V-Day” by bringing The Vagina Monologues to southeastern Vermont.
